The LEOFF 2 Ombuds team is specialized in the field of death and disability benefits.
The mission of the LEOFF 2 Ombudsman Program is to provide members and their families with confidential and impartial assistance to identify and obtain benefits and services for which they may qualify. The Ombuds Program services are voluntary and paid for by LEOFF Plan 2.
The program was established by the legislature in 2013 to provide information and assistance to members and their families in identifying and obtaining the federal, state, local, private, and other benefits and services for which they may qualify.
The Ombuds:
- Provides consultation to LEOFF Plan 2 members and their families.
- Works with outside agencies and organizations to assist members and their families.
- Analyzes and identify issues and make recommendations for additional study and consideration.
- Conducts educational presentations.
- Maintains a network of local, state, and federal resources.
- Provides an annual report to the Board on the performance of the program.
The Ombuds Do Not:
- Provide legal advice.
- Conduct investigations.
- Adjudicate issues or participate in disciplinary actions, or any formal grievance processes.

We provide information, resources, and options customized to individual circumstances. This includes benefits related to:

During our visit, we will review and discuss:
- Your current status

- Rights and responsibilities of all parties
We will be with you throughout this journey to answer questions, provide next steps and personalized care.

- Identifies roadblocks that counter stakeholder interests and tracks problem areas.
- Makes recommendations for changes to policies or procedures.
- Conducts educational presentations to employers and stakeholder groups.
