The LEOFF 2 Board recently released two videos regarding Social Security offsets. These resources help provide explanation on how offsets may impact LEOFF members at the time of retirement. Two public pension offsets exist for public service employees who receive pensions that are based on earning NOT covered by Social Security. These are the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). How these offsets work and why are explained in two short videos created by Board staff.
